Troubleshooting

When using any communication based application, it is possible for numerous errors in both configuration and networking, to occur.

Many applications do not report these errors, but simply tell you that you have a network error. INGEAR is designed to try to provide you with as much information as possible. We feel it is better to display this to the user than to hide it from them as it will help diagnose what may be going on.

Use the Monitor / Test / Debug Mode or Sample OPC Client to assist you in resolving communication errors.

 

Classes of Errors:

Dialog based errors

There are errors that occur during configuration or settings related to user input

Driver Error Messages

These are descriptive messages that appear in the Driver Status pain of the OPC server

Driver Error Codes

These errors indicate a problem initializing, connecting, transmitting or receiving data on serial networks. Verify the HostLink Serial or FINS Serial driver settings with the serial port settings on the Omron Controller serial port

Winsock Error Code

Winsock Error Codes (100xx) indicate a problem initializing, connecting, transmitting or receiving data on Ethernet networks. Verify the FINS_ENET Driver setting and FINS ENET Device settings with the setting of the Omron Ethernet Controller

Hostlink Error Codes

Hostlink Error Codes are returned by the PLC indicating a problem with receiving a command, or delivery a reply and relates to either Unit Number addressing, or the OPC item(s) being requested.

FINS Error Codes

FINS Error Codes are returned by the FINS network indicating a problem with receiving a command or delivering a reply and relates to Network / Node ID of the Driver and Device, or the with OPC item(s) being requested.
