When using any communication based application, it is possible for numerous errors in both configuration and networking, to occur.
Many applications do not report these errors, but simply tell you that you have a network error. INGEAR is designed to try to provide you with as much information as possible. We feel it is better to display this to the user than to hide it from them as it will help diagnose what may be going on.
Use the Monitor / Test / Debug Mode or Sample OPC Client to assist you in resolving communication errors.
Classes of Errors:
There are errors that occur during configuration or settings related to user input
These are descriptive messages that appear in the Driver Status pain of the OPC server
These errors indicate a problem initializing, connecting, transmitting or receiving data on serial networks. Verify the HostLink Serial or FINS Serial driver settings with the serial port settings on the Omron Controller serial port
Winsock Error Codes (100xx) indicate a problem initializing, connecting, transmitting or receiving data on Ethernet networks. Verify the FINS_ENET Driver setting and FINS ENET Device settings with the setting of the Omron Ethernet Controller
Hostlink Error Codes are returned by the PLC indicating a problem with receiving a command, or delivery a reply and relates to either Unit Number addressing, or the OPC item(s) being requested.
FINS Error Codes are returned by the FINS network indicating a problem with receiving a command or delivering a reply and relates to Network / Node ID of the Driver and Device, or the with OPC item(s) being requested.
