Adding a FINS Ethernet Device

Supported FINS Ethernet Omron CPU Types

Device Properties

Enter the Name of the Device (see Device Naming)

Select the FINS_ENET Driver Name created by Adding a FINS_ENET Driver

Enter a Timeout period (50-10000ms) 3000ms default.

(Optional)Set Simulate I/O. Use this option to test your client application if you do not have a PLC available.

Omron CPU Type

Select the Omron CPU Type

Omron FINS Node / Network Address

Enter the Ethernet IP Address of the Ethernet Module

Omron FINS Address

The PLC must appear as a node on the FINS network. By default FINS will use the last octet of the Ethernet Module address as its FINS Node ID. You use the default by clicking Use default Node ID button to assign the FINS node ID from the IP address.

IMPORTANT:

FINS network can only address 127 nodes (Node ID’s 0~126).

If the last octet of Ethernet modules IP address is greater than 126, it will not be recognized on the FINS network. In this case, there are 2 options:

Create a mapping table in the Omron PLC that maps IP address to a valid FINS Node ID (0~126) and set the mapped FINS node in the Node ID setting.

Change the IP address of the Ethernet module so the last octet is 126 or less.

The default UDP port for Omron Ethernet is port 9600. If the Omron Ethernet module is configured to use a different UDP port enter that value in the UDP Port setting in the FINS_ENET Driver properties

Select a value for the Max Data Frame Size (Ethernet Only) See Data Frame Size

Click OK.

·      Enter the IP Address of the PLC Ethernet Module

·      Enter the FINS Destination Network Address (0-126) of the PLC.

·      Enter a FINS Network Address (1-127)

Example:
To reach
Net 4, Node 1, via the Ethernet Module 192.11.168.63

IP Address = 192.11.168.63
Destination Network = 4
Destination Node = 1
